Fluxes for (SMD) soldering

In soldering processes flux is used to clean the surfaces so that solder wetting and joint formation can take place. Since flux residues will still be present on the board after the soldering process, one has to decide to clean the board or to leave the flux residues. Since cleaning becomes more restricted, due to the environmental aspects, there is an increasing demand for low solid content fluxes, which leaves almost no residues, so that cleaning can be avoided. This sheet will give information about aspects to be considered when choosing a flux.
