Aquastorm 100 with Chemical Isolation Cascade Setup Options

The Aquastorm 100 is designed to operate in either Rosin (Chemistry) or O/A (DI Cascade) configurations for Rosin Flux cleaning applications or Organic Acid Flux cleaning applications, by simply opening and closing certain cascade valves. Ensure power is off at the system disconnect and tagged out. Drain system tanks prior to performing the Rosin Cascade Setup or the O/A Cascade Setup procedures to prevent the system from being inadvertently started up while making the necessary changes.

Rosin (Chemistry) Setup

When cleaning using saponifier for Rosin flux applications it is most important to keep chemicals segregated. Open and/or close the specified cascade pipe ball valves outlined in this procedure for Rosin cleaning applications. Go to the rear Prewash section and locate the two (2) valves coming from prewash. One (1) goes directly to drain, controlled via a ball valve. The other (2) permits prewash to cascade back to the recirculating wash tank, also controlled via a ball valve. Turn the ball valve on the prewash pipe going directly to drain (1) to the CLOSED position to prevent prewash from going directly to drain. Turn the ball valve on the prewash cascade pipe going to the recirculating wash tank (2) to the OPEN position to permit cascading to occur.

O/A (DI) Cascade Setup

When cleaning using Organic Acid (O/A) applications it is most important to permit cascading to occur. Open and/or close the specified cascade pipe ball valves outlined in this procedure for O/A cleaning applications. Go to the rear Prewash section and locate the two (2) valves coming from prewash. One (1) goes directly to drain, controlled via a ball valve. The other (2) permits prewash to cascade back to recirculating wash tank, also controlled via a ball valve. Turn the ball valve on the prewash pipe going directly to drain (1) to the OPEN position to allow prewash to go directly to drain. Turn the ball valve on the prewash cascade pipe going to the recirculating wash tank (2) to the CLOSED prevent cascading from occurring.

Next: Go to the recirculating wash section and locate the cascade pipe coming from the bottom of the Chemical Isolation section. This pipe is located inside the process area of the machine.

Rosin (Chemistry) Setup

When cleaning using saponifier for Rosin flux applications it is most important to keep chemicals segregated. For a Chemistry Application with a Wet Chemical Isolation, turn this valve so the handle is in the vertical position (As shown below). This prevents cascading from occurring, keeping saponifier solutions separate.

O/A (DI) Cascade Setup

When cleaning using Organic Acid (O/A) applications it is most important to permit cascading to occur. For an O/A (DI) Application, this valve should be positioned with handle in horizontal position. Handle should be in-line with plumbing to permit cascading to occur.

Note: Failure to follow recommended valve settings could result in process issues such as high chemistry consumption, tank temperature fluctuations and foaming.
