Some notes on the purity of nitrogen for soldering applications

Nitrogen is often used in a soldering process to create a larger process window.
The main benefit is that the nitrogen reduces the oxidation that is caused by the oxygen from the ambient air. Oxides that are formed during the process can prevent good wetting or affect the solder drainage conditions at the wave exit, resulting in solderbridging.
With the application of nitrogen in that stage of the process the solder quality might be improved.
