F4T Basic Operation

See below for a transcript of the video.

F 4 T Basic Operation.

The F 4 T control is a highly customizable control with many options and features.

This video will cover basic operation without cascade control, with a typical configuration for Despatch Ovens.

When the F 4 T control is powered on, it goes through a boot up process, then it displays the home page.

The left side of the home page is the Loop or temperature control information.

On the right side of the home page is the Limit or high limit safety information.

The value next to the three vertical dots displays the current control status.

The Loop PV value is the process value or oven temperature.

The Loop SP value is the control setpoint.

P W R is the percentage of power output for the heater output.

Similarly, the Limit status is shown next to the three vertical dots.

The Limit PV, is the oven temperature as read by the separate limit thermocouple.

The Limit H S P, is the high set point, or the temperature that the high limit safety will trip and disable the oven heaters.

The Profile Actions button brings up a screen with all the Profile operation and programming functions.

Pressing the arrows on the right and left side of the display will scroll to additional pages if available. There are up to 3 additional pages that can be set up as desired. On this control two optional pages are set up to display the 8 optional monitoring thermocouples.

Across the bottom of the display are 4 icons that are always visible.

Home. Menu. Return. And Help.

Pressing the Home icon will always return the display to the home page.

Pressing the menu icon will provide access to other settings and functions within the controller.

Pressing the Return icon will take the user back to the previous screen.

Pressing the Help icon displays information about the controller.

Setpoint Operation.

This control is currently in the off status, with setpoint of zero degrees C, and zero percent output power to the heater.

To set the desired setpoint, press the S P value. Enter the desired setpoint on the keypad. And press enter.

Press the word, off near the 3 vertical dots.

Press the off icon for control mode.

Select Auto, then press done.

The control is now in auto status and the output power has gone to 100%.

This control is not connected to an oven, so the P V value will not change with output power.

To change the Profile Event statuses in setpoint operation. Press Menu. Then Operations. Then Profile Events. For this example, we will turn off the End of Cycle relay. Then press Done.

To turn the control loop off, Press auto in the loop status area. Then press auto, in control mode. Select Off, then press done.

The control is now back in the off status.

Profile Operation.

To run a profile, press profile actions.

A menu will display various profile related actions.

Select Run Profile.

This control only has 1 sample profile to select from.

Select Actions.

A menu will display the available actions for this profile.

The options associated with running a profile are: Run Profile. Custom Run. And Calendar Start.

Calendar Start, allows the user to set a day and time for the profile to start in the future.

Custom Run, allows the user to select which step of the profile to start on.

Pressing Cancel returns to the previous display.

For this example, we will use Run profile.

Press Actions, then press Run Profile, and the profile will start, and the display will go to the home page.

When a profile is running, there is some additional information available on the home page.

The profile name and remaining time for the profile is displayed on the left.

The current step number, step type, and remaining time in that step is displayed in the center.

In the Loop area, there is a T S P or Target Setpoint for the current step. And a C S P value or Current Setpoint. On a ramp type step, the C S P value will change over the time of the step to reach the Target Setpoint at the end of the step time.

If you press Profile Actions when a profile is running, a menu will display different choices for the running profile.

For this example, we will terminate the profile.

Note, the loop status changes back to the off status. and the power output goes to 0 percent

High limit operation.

To demonstrate the high limit operation, we will lower the high limit setpoint below the current PV value so the high limit will trip.

A warning message will be displayed.

Press Dismiss.

The high limit is still in alarm or Fail status.

Raising the setpoint, or allowing the oven to cool down, removes high limit condition but it does not reset the alarm.

To reset the alarm, press the down arrow at the top center of the display.

On the Error screen you can see the error type, and the time and date the error occurred.

Press clear to reset the error.

Press the up arrow at the bottom center of the display to go back to the home screen.

The high limit has returned to the Safe status.

This completes the F 4 T basic operation tutorial.
